The beautiful countryside of the Rye Island is enliven on the walls. The Czech painter, Oto Blaha, painted storks and boats in the old-fashioned wallpaper style. (At that time, this kind of painting represented a special genre, called grisaille).  In days of old, Rye Island was a marshy region, even Turks avoided the swamps full of bogs and stagnant water. A couple wearing hats are rowing a boat; there is a water mill, pollard willow, stork, marsh and swamp.  No Turk, though, because he got lost in the swamp and sank.
